Ghost Line X

Ghost Line X’ is a spatial audio public event series created by the experimental sound collective ‘Rolling Ryot.’ The series debuted at Rosewood Park in Austin, Texas on November 19th, 2022 and happened a second time on April 15th, 2023 at Moody Amphitheater as part of Fusebox Festival. The event consists of a 15-channel linear speaker array spanning over 350 ft. in conjunction with sound reactive lighting.

For this event I created a piece entitled ‘Lost Transmissions From Dusty Roads.’ ‘Lost Transmissions’ encompasses electromagnetic anti-radio field recordings, chopped digital string arrangements, and a variety of heavily edited sample content. The composition merges staccato melodic phrasings with Musique concrète forms to create spatial movement and depth within the linear speaker array.

Sound in Space: A Metaverse Retrospective

‘Sound in Space: A Metaverse Retrospective’ was a virtual online gallery exhibit that occurred April 18 - 20th, 2022 on the social metaverse platform NOWHERE. The gallery exhibit was a retrospective that featured selected audio-visual works, albums and music videos created by Brian Wenner and collaborators from the years 2017 - 2022.

The artist was virtually present in the gallery during the hours of 4pm - 8pm (EST) on each of the three days and interacted with gallery attendees. Playback of audio-video content was controlled and streamed live via OBS onto the platform. The gallery exhibit was part of the ‘NOWHERE Sound Series,’ which was a month long showcase of musicians and sound artists.

Separator

‘Separator’ is a 42-minute collaborative audio-visual piece by sound composer Prism House and visual artist Matt O'Hare. The piece was originally debuted in 2019 as a multichannel sound piece and single source projection that debuted at SXSW. 'Separator' was later shown as part of the Contemporary and Digital Art Fair (CADAF) at Art Basel in Miami, FL, and the Satellite Art Fair in Brooklyn, NY among other screenings. Utilizing chopped and manipulated audio, computer graphics, and video, ‘Separator’ is broken down into fifteen continuous movements of audio-visual interplay. The artists' intention is to realize a fragmented environment that moves between moments of extreme dissonance and harmony. The audio content of 'Separator' relies heavily on Internet-ripped material, field recordings, and re-sampled synthesizer tones. The visual content of 'Separator' is best understood as a series of algorithmically-generated living collages that utilize a variety of found materials including architectural simulations, video game screen-captures, animations of surgical procedures, and hundreds of elements taken from Internet advertisements. The result is a digital hallucination that rapidly oscillates between the beautiful and alienating.

Evolve

In May 2017 Prism House was commissioned to compose a multi-channel musical score for the installation piece ‘Evolve’ that debuted at Westwood Gallery in Manhattan (May 5-7). ‘Evolve’ is an immersive multimedia collaboration between Sony and the spatial interior artist Kaz Shirane, as well as additional production by Magnetic. The objective of the installation was to promote the launch of the BRAVIO OLED television through the creation of a fully immersive audio/visual experience utilizing the television. Seven BRAVIO televisions were mounted and installed within the crystallized space and were used as a playback device for synced video and audio. One of the major goals of the sound composition was to create a piece that “moves around the room.” This required automating sounds to move between the seven televisions (14 audio channels) through creating seven unique stereo audio buss tracks (one per television). The final audio tracks were rendered into the video content for simultaneous playback throughout the entire space.
