Artifact Sound Series

‘Artifact’ is an ongoing monthly experimental music series curated by Brian Wenner and Matthew Ryals that happens at the venue Sleepwalk in Brooklyn, New York. The series began in February of 2024 and will continue in 2025.

Our mission is to provide a platform for innovative musicians—improvisers, composers, ensembles, electronic and sound artists, and electro-acoustic performers—with a focus on elevating underrepresented voices in experimental music. We prioritize diversity in our monthly lineups, presenting a broad spectrum of left-field music that spans aesthetic, historical, and cultural boundaries. By supporting artists from a wide range of cultural identities and gender expressions, we aim to create evenings where distinct styles and perspectives coexist, fostering unexpected connections between avant-garde approaches.

‘Artifact’ has worked with artists such as Keith Fullerton Whitman, Lea Bertucci, Luke Stewart, Thomas Lehn, Laura Cocks, Tatsuya Nakatani, gabby fluke-mogul, and Nava Dunkelman.
