Eternal Drift

Eternal Drift

'Eternal Drift' is a new sound piece originally written as part of a spatial audio artist residency curated by Chloe Alexandra Thompson and Reforesters Laboratory. 'Eternal Drift' encompasses sampled acoustic instrumentation, layered electronic textures, and natural field recordings. These elements drift and evolve into several distinct movements, ranging from melodic ambience to chaotic noise. The piece features additional recorded instrumentation by Kirin McElwain (cello) and Tatsuya Nakatani (percussion).

‘Eternal Drift’ was debuted on October 19th, 2025 on the immersive 24.2 channel spatial audio system at Reforesters Laboratory. The piece was presented in ambisonic surround but can be adapted for different multichannel listening environments. ‘Eternal Drift’ will be released as a full length album in 2026.
